RSS Aggregator > Additional services > Applications
The RSS standards have been available for some time, but they are just coming into widespread use. That means there is an opportunity to develop new uses for this technology. For example:
- Efficient replacement of any mass mailing applications you might have.
- Distribution of key documents, such as disaster recovery manuals that people need to be able to get to even though they do not have an Internet connection. An RSS feed needs an Internet connection to update channels, but content can be accessed while offline.
- Support for major events including late breaking news of schedule changes.
- Distribution of software and documentation. The RSS standard can include attachments along with each item. a tailored version of the Aggregator could install new software updates from attachments entirely automatically.
The RSS standard includes a means to include additional data without disrupting aggregators so it provides you with a powerful tool for innovative use.
