Version 4.0 launched
We are pleased to announce version 4.0 of the Local Information System we originally developed for Epsom & Ewell CAB.
The major change in version 4.0 is that you can now add, change and delete database entries via the same Intranet/Internet site you use to view entries. If you are not authorised to make changes, those editing features are hidden from you. You now get the choice between updating an intranet site directly or - as before - via the synchronisation utility.
Other changes to the intranet version include:
- More ways to search your local information
- A new backup tool
- A new link checking tool
- More capacity for search terms if you use a SQL Server database
You can find out more about the intranet version at: www.SeeITA.com/CAB/Intranet.shtml.
We have installed a copy of version 4.0 on our server so you can try it out. See this page: www.SeeITA.com/CAB/TryIt.shtml.
Enhancements in version 4.0
Most of the changes are in the intranet version, but the desktop version gets some improvements too.
You can read a list of all the changes at: www.SeeITA.com/CAB/Versions.shtml.
You can see a full list of the enhancements we provided in previous releases going all the way back to version 1 at: www.seeita.com/CAB/Version30Changes.shtml.
Installing version 4.0
You can get everything you need - including detailed installation instructions - from: www.SeeITA.com/CAB/Version4Update.shtml.
If you want to put your Local Information System on the internet, we can help you do that provided you are happy to share ids and passwords with us during the set up period. We can also help you choose a suitable hosting company. There's no charge for this service.
Problems or questions
If you encounter any problems or if you have any questions, please let us know at: www.seeita.com/Contact.shtml.
Can you help us?
We've spent a lot of time developing this system and we'd like as many bureaux to benefit as possible. If you have contact with other bureaux that you think might be able to use the system - especially now it can be web-based - please consider letting them know about the system and our web site: www.SeeITA.com/CAB.
