Version 3.0 launched

We are pleased to announce version 3.0 of the Local Information System we originally developed for Epsom & Ewell CAB.

The most notable change is a new version of the main enquiry program that allows people to access local information through their web browsers. The previous desktop version is still supported and the two versions can run side-by-side.

The intranet version offers particular benefits to bureaux split across multiple offices and those with outreach sites.

You can find out more about the intranet version at: www.SeeITA.com/CAB/Intranet.shtml.

We have installed a copy on our server so you can try it out. See this page: www.SeeITA.com/CAB/TryIt.shtml.

Other enhancements in version 3.0

Version 3.0 includes a number of other enhancements that we hope you will find useful. These include new features to help people create and change database entries. You can read a list of all the changes at: www.SeeITA.com/CAB/Versions.shtml.

You can see a full list of the enhancements we in previous releases going all the way back to version 1 at: www.seeita.com/CAB/Version26Changes.shtml.

Installing version 3.0

You can get everything you need - including detailed installation instructions - from: www.SeeITA.com/CAB/Version3Update.shtml.

You have the option to convert your Local Information System into a web site with access controlled by id and password if appropriate. Provided you are happy to share ids and passwords with us during the set up period, we are prepared to help you install the system. We can also help you choose a suitable hosting company. There's no charge for this service.

Problems or questions

If you encounter any problems or if you have any questions, please let us know at: www.seeita.com/Contact.shtml.

Can you help us?

We've spent a lot of time developing this system and we'd like as many bureaux to benefit as possible. If you have contact with other bureaux that you think might be able to use the system - especially now it can be web-based - please consider letting them know about the system and our web site: www.SeeITA.com/CAB.

Thank you.

Regards,

Andy and Margaret Henderson
